Writing

Science writing: I'm excited to explore other areas of writing beyond the manuscript.  In the upcoming months, I will be pitching stories to various media outlets and also freelancing in other capacities. I'm also dabbling in poetry!

Understanding the lives of other creatures (and why it’s so hard)

Science communication: Through a blog associated with my non-toxic living website, I write informative (and researched!) posts about ways to live in a healthier, more sustainable way. These posts cover toxicology-related topics, as well as eco-friendly tips. You can find those posts here.

This class covered organ systems, comparative anatomy, and also had a student generated experiment component using tobacco hornworms.

NC State did a great job providing live animals to examine and interact with in the lab.

Certificate of Accomplishment in Teaching

NC State offered a teaching certificate program that I participated in  In this great program, I took classes about teaching (e.g. classroom management, assessment tools), completed teaching evaluations, and created a teaching portfolio, that included my teaching philosophy and evidence of my efficacy in the classroom.
